The Panorama Route is a scenic route along Mpumalanga Escarpment with Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world, central to it. The canyon is 31 kilometres long and is the only green canyon in the world.
The Panorama Route is one of the country’s most scenic drives and explores the Mpumalanga highlands, the north-eastern section of the Great Escarpment of the Drakensberg. In these rugged mountains the plateau comes to an abrupt and dramatic halt. Falling steeply away into the Lowveld accompanied by incredible views out over the savannah of the South African Lowveld. On a clear day there are distant views of the Lebombo Mountains which forms the border with between South Africa and Mozambique.
